My LVAD

. On Saturday March 25th 2017 I suffered my 10th and final heart attack while riding my motorcycle to Rabbit Hash, Kentucky. I remember pulling over and taking off my gear so they didn’t cut it in the ambulance while they transported me to St Elizabeth in Kentucky. The doctors took me to the cath lab and the next day the doctors told me they were going to only adjust my medication. I told him that’s not an option and posted on Facebook for somebody to come pick me up Christ Hospital. After having a Christ I was given a swan and an impella and given two options: hospice or the LVAD.

In order for me to get the LVAD, someone had to commit to take care of me for 6 months. I called my sister who was hiking on the side of a mountain on Bell Rock in Sedona, Arizona and, by happenstance, had phone service. I was given the LVAD. During surgery, I suffered two strokes that affected the left side of my body. I had to learn how to walk again. I was told I would be in a nursing facility until November or December of 2017. I pushed myself during the physical, occupational and speech therapy as nobody was going to dictate how I was going to live my life. I was back home and driving in August of 2017. I made a list of some of the gear that was helpful for me HERE
